Response to the mobility needs

In the last two decades, smart cards with varying levels of complexity have become the basis of modern ticketing systems. With its contact-based and/or contactless technology, Calypso is a fitting response to the mobility needs of passengers and the requirements of transport companies. It offers operators a standardized solution for numerous applications. Thanks to its open technology, Calypso offers public transport operators greater independence from semiconductor manufacturers. This makes Calypso economically attractive and easily adaptable to technical advances. However, Calypso’s field of application is not limited to traditional contact-based and/or contactless smartcards. NFC-enabled cell phones and special USB keys with an interface for contactless communication can also be used as tickets, thanks to Calypso.
